TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY

FUNCTION AT LICHFIELD ■ The 21st birthday of the twin son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. (Sanders, of Putaruru, Bill and Desarei, was celebrated at a function held in the Lichfield Hall recently. There was a very large gathering of friends present, . and 1 the evening took the form of a dance. The guests were received by IVtr. and Mrs. Sanders, the latter wearing a gown of blue taffeta. Miss Desarei Sanders l wore a beautiful frock made with a sliver lame bodice and white tulle sldrt, embroidered with silver. Dancing occupied the early part of the evening, music being provided by a Matamata orchestra. Mr. D. -C. Freeman proved a capable M.C. A sumptuous buffet supper was served later in the evening, a beautiful birthday cake occupying the place of honour oil the table. Mr. J. R. O. liochhead, in congratulating the guests-of honour on behalf of those present on attaining their majority, mentioned how well thought of both were. He wished them much happiness in the future. Mr. W. Sanders, senr., replied, thanking Mr. Locfhhead for his good ■wishes: for his son and daugi&eff, and also thanked all those kind friends who had helped to make the -evening the success it was. Bill, speaking for both his sister and himself, thanked his parents- for the happy evening, and their friends for their kind wishes and lovely gifts. Musical honours rwere accorded Bill and Des, after which dancing ■was resumed and was enjoyed for ■the remainder of the evening.
