POWER CONSERVATION

URGED BY MANAGER Mr. R. Sprague’s Statement The manager of the Thames Valley Electric Bower Board has issued the following- statement:— “My -board has been advised that the allocation of power for the week -commencing Monday, June 23, and until further notice, will be restored to the basis upon which power was allocated’ prior to the present period of emergency.; This means that supply authorities, will be rationed on a unit consumption, per week •calculated on a 3 "per cent, increase over the corresponding week’s consumption. whichever is the highest for the preceding four years. “'Further than this, each supply authority is- ordered to keep the maximum half hourly demand per -week to equal or within the demand -over a similar corresponding period to the units. !

“The State Kydrp . Department warns ail supply authorities „that under no circumstances must these limits Ibe exceeded, otherwise drastic action without warning will be taken to discipline offenders. The public and consumers in general are warned that the utmost care will be necessary to avoid interruptions. These are the critical hours- with this board. The use of consuming devices should be cut down to the minimum and lights- reduced in size where reading is nut the major use. “A campaign to save should be instituted in every house and business premises. (Light power cuts mav be necessary to keep control, ana- the schedule of cutg proposed is enclosed.*’ -
