PROGRESS LEAGUE At the monthly meeting 6f the Tc-koroa Progress League the chairman, Mr. E. Nuttall, stated that advice had been -received from- the Minister of Health to the effect that Tckoroa would- not now be included in the special area served by the doctor resident at Ma-nigakino. After discussion it was decided to approach New Zealand Forest Products, Ltd., with particular reference to obtaining a section on which any doctor wishing to practice in the district might build. - . Fire Brigade The minutes of the special meeting called in connection- with the formation of the Tokoroa Volunteer Fite Brigade were read and approved. As the brigade was now established it was decided- that a copy of these minutes should be forwarded to the secretary. Telephone Service Correspondence with the" Post-master-General concerning the installation of a telephone exchange at Tokoroa was read- and discussed. Several members spoke, strongly of the length of time which had elapsed since the exchange was first promised, and of the totally inadequate service at present available to residents of the district. It was also pointed out that a number of intending subscribers had paid deposits many months ago, and it was fel-t that as these had been accepted the installation of the exchange should have b een undertaken before now. The secretary was- instructed to write to the Postmaster-General stressing the need for action. Roads It was decided to write to the Matamata County Council on the subject of the roads in the district, several of which were in a state of rapid deterioration.
