TRAFFIC OFFENCES
HEARD AT MAGISTRATE’S COURT
Several cases of traffic offences were heard before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Putaruru Court on Monday. Traffic Inspector B. M. Boyle prosecuted. W. Chase was charged with operating, near Tirau, a heavy motor vehicle on the road l at a speed exceeding the maximum speed of 30 miles per hour allowed for this class of vehicle. W. J. Garwith was charged with a similar offence, the inspector stating that each when checked was travelling at 40 miles per hour. (Both were convicted and fined £2, and 10s costs. Te Puke Sawmills, Ltd., were charged that at Lichfield, they being the owners of a heavy motor vehicle did operate same along the main highway when that portion of the weight of the vehicle and its load .which was borne by the rear axle exceeded the weight indicated for such roads. They were further charged with operating a motor .vehicle when the load carried on such vehicle extended further backwards than four feet behind the body of the vehicle. The company was convicted and fined £2, and 12s costs, op the first charge, and £l, and 10s costs, on the second.
