PLANS FOR SCHOOL OBSERVANCE “United Nations Week” will be observed in New Zealand from June Bto June 15. Special meetings of public bodies; have been arranged, and appropriate programmes are planned by the National Broadcasting Service. iChildren returning to school after their first term holidays will have during the week special sessions aimed to give them a better understanding of the organisation, work, and aims of the United Nations Organisation, Ambitious projects are being arranged in some schools. A general programme which has been suggested for observance ip schools includes an inaugural talk by the head teacher, followed by an assembly in which various pupils will speak on the history and present position of various countries belonging to the organisation. In some schools “all nations”' concerts will be given, with items typical of the life in representative countries. International fancy dress; balls have been arranged to co-ordinate with these activities.

Senior pupils will have explained to them the various aspects of the United Nations Charter and its potentialities for world peace, and junior classes may study the contributions of certain nations to science, engineering, music, literature and art, and prepare project material for display.
