WOMEN’S INSTITUTE There was an average attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Tapapa Women’s Institute. Mrs. R. Cochrane presided, assisted by the secretary, Mrs. A. E. Fuller. The motto was. “To bear is to conquer our fate,” and the roll call was “hints on preparing flowers for show.” The remainder of.the afternoon war, given over to Miss McMillan, who gave a very interesting talk on Hungary, and her hurried trip hack, to England at the outbreak of war. She had on display various pieces of Hungarian needlework and art, in which the members were very interested. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker at the conclusion of her address: . Competitions resulted:— Gingerbread: Mesdameo Buchanan 1, -J. Harwood 2. (Best Bloom: Mrs R. Cochrane. Garden Circle, two best blooms: Mrs A. E. Fuller. The hostesses, Mesdames T. Cochrane and Buchanan, served a very welcome afternoon tea
