FANCY DRESS BALL

GRAND SUCCESS

The children’s fancy dress ball held in Putaruru last week, by the Putaruru District Ambulance Committee, proved, a grand success. The Civic Theatre was packed with children, bedecked in colourful and, in many cases, most original and cleverly made costumes. The task of judging the costumes was performed by Mr. and Mrs. Q. Hitchcock and Mr. and Mrs. W. Kivell, and proved no saggy one. A grand parade was held and later the children were entertained to a delightful supper. The older folk then took over the floor, and the remainder of the evening was spent in dancing. The costume prize winners were: 'Girl, 1-5 years: E. Dixon (Powder Puff). Boy: R. Hogarth (Snowman).
