ANOTHER PUTARURU WIN ——— / Puketurua Beaten by 52 Runs Another win was added to the Putarurii Cricket Club’s list this season when, after a good game, a team from Puketurua combining that club, Public Works and Arapuni was defeated by 52* runs during the week-end at Glenshea Park. 'While the batting was marked by flashes of brightness the bowling was consistently .good, the wicket making the bowlers very much at home. The pitch has not received any attention for some weeks and is in need of mowing and rolling.

Williams, Putaruru’s skipper, was the most unplayable bowler of the day with his slow, canny, balls. The match showed him at the best form he has had this season. His averages were eight wickets for 31 runs and two for nine runs, , As opening bat Williams can be relied upon for a steady average of runs, and with Renner is the hardest proposition for opposing bowlers to skittle. His two scores were 27 and 10.

Another bowler on his day was F. Wilks, Putaruru, whose fast deliveries disposed of five wickets for 14 runs in Puketurua’s second knock. Pritaruru’s chances in the second innings did not appear very rosy with nine gone for 64, until' P. Edwards went to the crease. Although he had not played to any extent for some years his innings changed the aspect of the game. A powerful shot, he sent the ball flying to the bank on several occasions, making 27 not out.

Agnew, who is not only a reliable hut stylish batsman and bowler, dismissed in both innings 13 Putaruru batsmen for 56 runs and contributed 21 runs to the first innings total. In three overs at the tail of the first innings Dennis sent down two maiden overs, took three wickets and had one run scored off him.
