Sixteen lighting and heating consumers were connected to the Thames Valley Power Board’s mains during February, also two more waterheaters, one electric range, two milking motors and 13 other farm motors. Additional lighting and heating points were installed for 68 consumers.

The death occurred at Auckland on Saturday of Mr. Robert Cramond Ashton, farm labourer, aged 44 years, who was working in the Tirau district for three years until Christmas. Mr. Ashton worked for two years on the farm of Mr. R. E. Fitness, living there and doing rabbiting and other work. He also worked on various other farms in the Tirau district.

Unusual circumstances caused an interruption in the power supply in the Tirau district on the afternoon of February 9. A boy at Okoroire was flinging around a couple, of pine cones held by a piece of wire, when it slipped from his hand and landed on an 11 k.v. line, burning through one of the line wires. The boy’s father notified the troubleman immediately and steps were taken to isolate the fault. The directions on the Automobile Association’s signpost in Oxford Place must have completely baffled visiting motorists on Friday morning. The post 'at present, following upon the removal of the circle where it has stood until recently, is supported by tins and is movable. On Thursday night it was turned, with the result, that travellers in all ignorance may have driven up Kensington street to Taupo, Wairakei or Chateau Tongariro, or along Main street to Hamilton or Rotorua and on the south road to Te Awamutu.
