W.D.F.U.
PUTARURU BRANCH. The above branch held its second meeting for August in the Young People’s Hall on the 25th, Mrs. Duxfield presiding over a good attendance. A satisfactory report was read from the Waikato East Provincial Executive. Mrs. Shine reported that the deputation, of which she was a member, to the Town Board requesting improvements to the Town Hall had been successful. ... A lengthy discussion followed regarding the building of the W.D.F.bJ. rest room. It was finally decided to send a deputation to the Town Board with a proposal the meeting thought best for all concerned. Mrs. Smith’s lecture dealing with the Douglas Credit System has been indefinitely postponed. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Voyce, Walsh, Webby, Morrison and Bathe.
MORRINSVILLE BRANCH. a At the September meeting of the Morrinsville branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union Mrs. F. Jenner presided over 60 members. Two of the division’s housekeepers have been working all the month in the Morrinsville district. A competition for home-made bread was won by Mrs. J. R. West; and a competition for articles made from flour bags was won by Mrs. Jenner. The plant stall and exchange stall did good business, and the branch’s library was well patronised.
The Walton and Motumaoho members provided the afternoon tea.
