Lichfield.
Harvest Thanksgiving Service. The Anglican Church community at Lichfield held its annual service of thanksgiving for the blessings of the harvest on Sunday. Mrs. G. G. Rainger presided at the organ, and the occasional hymns were reverently and heartily sung. The Rev. P. Cleary, vicar of Putaruru, conducted the service, and preached on the obligation that rested on Christians generally of being grateful to God for his wondrous gifts to men. The offering of produce, fruit and vegetables and generous, and was, through the courtesy of Mr. G. G. Rainger, sent to Putaruru for transit to Hamilton, where it will be distributed to needy people under the supervision of Major Sampson, of the Salvation Army.
Incidental to the harvest thanksgiving service, a swarm of bees, which had taken up its abode in the building, buzzed away throughout and appeared to blend perfectly with the prayers and hymns of the worshippers.
