TIRAU.

glories op the garden. Presbyterian Flower Show. The Tirau Public Hall presented a gay appearance on Friday, when the annual Flower Show and Industrial Exhibition, under the auspices of the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild, was held. Outside a large number of cars were “ parsed,” and inside there was presented to the eye a glorious blaze of blooms, choice flowers from many a well-tended g-arded. There was a good attendance, and the Show was officially opened by Mr. F. F. Hockly, M.P., who paid the people a tribute for the excellent work they had performed. He thought it very creditable to the minister (Rev. B raybyn) the Guild, the church workers and the public supporters generally that so fine a local church should have been erected and furnished, leaving only a comparatively small debit yet to be met. He ,hoped that by this I time next year they would also have j i manse ready. (Applause). The flowers, fruit, vegetables, and cookery, and stalls were very neatly .rranged, and the officials were all very busily engaged attending to their various duties. The secretary, Mrs. Spedding, and the executive ■ must have had a particularly strenuj ous time during the past few weeks, > but the result of it all was well worth I while. In the evening tne place was packed, and a roaring trade was done in j all sections. The Rev. A. C. Hampton was present during the afternoon. Judges.— Vegetables and fruit, Mr. F. Jones (Matamata).
