A painful accident befell a wellknown business man who, within the last few weeks, has adopted the calling of Izaak Walton. With a companion, also a “ new chum ” at angling, the principal of the story was threshing the Ashburton river the other day (remarks the Guardian), but his companion, who had an immense fly on the end of his line, kept too near him, and after one of his flourishes with the rod he found he had caught something. It was his companion’s nose. The hook took the unfortunate angler near the point of the nose, and all efforts to remove the unnatural ornament were without avail, so the sufferer was brought into Ashburton, where it was taken out bv a doctor.
