MEETING AT MATAMATA. A very well-attended meeting of New Zealand Co-op. Dairy Co. suppliers’ committeemen was held at Matamata on Friday: Mr. J. T. Bryant (director) presided. There were also present: Messrs. P. H. Saxon and W. H. Allen (directors), H. H. Sterling (general manager), C. J. Parlane (assistant manager). Mr. Allen apologised for the absence of Mr. T. H. Hughes (director). A powerful address was delivered by Mr. Sterling on the fertilisers question, at the conclusion of which Mr. Willis moved, and Mr. Broklesby seconded, the following motion:— “ That this meeting of shareholders of N.Z.C.D.C., Ltd., endorses the policy of the directors and management in entering into the fertiliser business. This meeting of farmers also considers it was necessary for farmers to take steps to provide cheaper fertilisers.”—Carried unanimously.
Mr. Parlane subsequently addressed the meeting, and gave a resume of the company’s business for the period June to January last. The company in that period had gained, after deducting all loses, 12,448 cows.
