A CORRECTION.
(TO THE EDITOR.) Sir, —I notice in your report of the Pahiatua Sports last Wednesday you say there was a sprinkling of Woodville people. Now this is a very mild way of putting it, as from a rough count of those I actually saw on the ground there were over 60, and no doubt there were a good many others. For I don’t pretend to know all the Woodville people, and probably some I do know and saw have slipped my mind in making my count. No doubt there would have been many more, only a large number of the Woodville people had invitations to a picnic in the Maharahara and the racing folks found their way to Kumeroa. I would not trouble you with this only your way of putting it might make some people think you wanted to stir up some jealousy against the Woodville Jubilee Celebration and make the Pahiatua people sav, “ The Woodville people did not come here, we won't go there.” This I an. sure was not your object.—l am, Ac., Candour. Woodville, January 27. [There may have been over 00 from Woodville on the ground, but they escaped our notice. The sprinkling could not be lost sight of; they were as busy as bees working up the Woodville demonstration. That was right enough if they hadn’t used quite so much soft soap.—Ed. B.J
