Cattle Stealing.
One of the most barefaced cases of cattle-stealing that it is possible to conceive of occurred in this district on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Mr GrevilU, of the North Tiraumea, on looking over hi* farm on Sunday moru ; ng, din-rcivered ‘hat rnie
of hie young beasts hail been killed and a portion of tbe carcase taken away. The animal killed was one of a number of lutnd-fed beasts recently turned out, and waa so quiet that it would come up to anyone walking through the paddock. The act cannot be looked upon as anything else but deliberate cattle-stealing, aud it is to be hoped the guilty party will be brought to justice. Sir Greville was all over the place on Friday morning, and the cattle were all right then. The carcase was found close to the side of a small lagoon, and no attempt had evidently been made to conceal what could not be carried away. The matter is in Constable Cooper's hands.
