Increased Revenue.

Wellington, This Hay. The Customs duties for the month of August amounted to ±121,079. as against £108,641 for the same month of last year, and ±96,712 for July this year. The advances are attributed partly to the importation of spring goods by drapers aud partly to the reaction from the depression of the previous month. The return from *he principal ports were : Auckland, ±'26,927; Wellington, ±'19,988; Christchurch, £21,633; Dunedin, £30,549. The beer duty for Anguet was ±'3719, also au advance on the previous month in August of last year, wheu it was ±'3471, and in July last ±‘3454. The amount for the principle towns were :—Auckland, ±B9l ; Wellington, ±'429; Christchurch, ±767; Dunedin, ±695.
