Assault and Battery.
Informations have been sworn against Mrs Singleton, of the Tirauuiea Road, that she did on Thursday morning, Ist September, assault and batter Mr Roeux with a broom handle ; likewise that she did at the same time use abusive and insulting language to Mr George, calculated to provoke a breach of the peace. From what we can learn, the Singleton's reside on one of the Education Reserves, which has recently been obtained by Mr George, and the latter, accompanied by Mr Roeux, went yesterday morning to take possession. Mrs Singleton objected, and then followed tho alleged assault and battery aud abusive aud insulting language. Tlie cases are to be tried at Woodville ou the 15th instant.
