The Minister of Finance, Sir Joseph Ward, has issued the following appeal in respect to the war loan now being floated;—“Help the war loan. Your subscription is not only a profitable investment; it is a duty imposed by our citizenship of the British Empire as a means of securing a continuance for yourself and for posterity the freedom for which your forefathers fought and died. The utmost you can invest is only a reasonable premium of insurance against you and yours suffering what Belgium suffered. Can you doubt a victorious Germany's intentions regarding the Pacific? Under German rule and German conditions the privilege of existing might be yours. Subscribe now for the right to live." Applications for the loan close on Monday, April 15th, and subscriptions will be received at any Postal Money Order Office, Bank, or the Treasury, Wellington.
