HAVELOCK SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the above was held in the schoolroom on Monday the 3rd inst., Messrs J. Lovell, W. Blaylock, B. Horton, and A. E. Dance being present. The average attendance for last quarter was 83.3 out of a roll number of 88.5. The master reported that the painting of his residence was in progress, the first coat having been put on. The Committee understand that the school will be painted when the residence is completed, while 300 feet of new guttering has been received from the Wellington Board for renewal. It is to be regretted that a slight outbreak of diphtheria has affected a few scholars, and the master has been notified that they cannot be permitted to return to duties "until sanctioned by the health officer. The annual meeting of householders is appointed for Monday, 22nd April, at 8 p.m., when it is to be hoped all will attend • who have the welfare of the children's education at heart, nomination forms can be obtained from the the secretary (Mr E. A. Dance). Nominations close on Monday, loth April, but may also he made at the meeting. The Committee expressed their deep i sympathy with Mr and Mrs P. J. O'-j Donoghue, at the loss of their son Daniel (“Bosie”). Accounts to the amount of £1 17s 3d were passed for payment.
