LIBERTY WAR LOAN.

AVe direct attention to the individual appeal made by the Minister of Finance to the people of the Dominion to subscribe to the Liberty AVar Loan. ‘ ‘ All may not be able to fight with gun, bomb, and bayonet, but all can help by making their money fight." The Minister lays stress on the importance of everybody contributing (no matter how small the amount) all he or she can afford, so that the brave men who are fighting for us may have the means to secure victory. All the information that the average prospective investor will need is set out in a list of questions and answers, but should a subscriber not be clear on any particular point, a call at any bank or moneyorder office open for the sale of these securities will elicit the information required. To the person of small means no better investment could be offered than the Post Office War Certificates, which arc being issued for terms of five and ten years. Interest on AA'ar Certificates accumulates, is free from income-tax, and is repayable with the principal at the end of the specified term. For investors with small capital, who desire a shorter currency than that provided for in the War Certificates, the Post Office AVar Loan Inscribed stock has been issued. This form of investment bears a slightly higner rate of interest—s per cent.—but which, however is not free from income-tax. Individual holdings are limited to £SOO, and the minimum investment is £IOO. Bearer Bonds are also issued, and this form of investment is more in the nature of a direct- loan to the Government. They bear interest at the rate of 4| per cent. Coupons.are attached to each Bond, to enable the investor to collect the interest due every six months. A bearer bond is payable to bearer and has the advantage of being negotiable. It can be passed from hand to hand without the formality of a transfer. The holder for the timebeing, as is the case witn an ordinary bank-note, is the recognised owner.
