SICKNESS AMONG SOLDIERS.

At the present time there is comparatively little sickness amonng soldiers in the several military camps. The Defence medical authorities attribute this satisfactory position to _the fact that the medical supervision of the men in camp is' rigidly carried out. The Cl camp has also proved of great value. In this camp the recruits are gradually hardened off, and when drafted into the reinforcements are fit and able to indulge in vigorous training without undue fatigue. Surgeon-General Henderson (Director of Medical Services) stated that there were 100 men in hospital receiving treatment. Of this total,, 44 were in the military hospital at Trentham, 54 at Featherston, and. two at Awapuni. With the exception of one serious case at Feathorston (rheumatic fever), all the patients were suffering from minor ailments, and doing well.
