The guests at a certain party were playing an exciting game. This was the game : A gentleman had to throw a handkerchief at one of the ladies and say : “The ship had copne into the harbour laden: with ” (mentioning any letter of the alphabet he might choose). The lady to whom the handkerchief had been thrown was thereupon expected to fill in a word beginning with the given letter. One gentleman chose the letter ‘A,’ and chanced to throw the handkerchief to the wife of a gentleman who had made a large foi time in the fish buisness. “ ’Addocks ! ” interjected the lady.
