CAPTURE OF ARLEUX.
HEAVY FIGHTING CONTINUES. LONDON, April 29. Sir Douglas Haig reports: Severe fighting, in which wc had the advantage, lasted all day from the Scarpe river to tho Achevillc-Vimy road. Wc captured Arleux and tho enemy’s positions on a front of over two miles north and south of the village. We also made progress north-west of Gavrelle and on the western slopes of Greenland Hill, between Gavrelle and Roeux. . Southward of the river we gained ground north of Monchjc-le-Preux, The enemy in many violent counterattacks with considerable forces suffered heavily from our artillery and machine-gun fire. Heavy fighting in the neighbourhood of Roeux and Oppy continues. We took several hundred prisoners,
