A Monster Apple.

A LORD NELSON SCALES ZBJ£ OUNCES , A monster apple of the Lord Nelson variety, which turned the scales at ounces, was on view in Sydney last week. The apple was grown by Mr John Connolly at Cowra on a 16-year-old tree. Mr Connoly has an orchard of 50 acres, and goes in for apples, pears, and stone fruit, growing them on the rich alluvial river fiat. This particular tree, Mr Connolly states, is improving every year. This apple, however, is by no means a record, as last year a specimen, Lord Russell Variety, weighing 21b l>£oz., was grown by Mr Frank Clarke, Woodside, Rylstone. It was believed to be the heaviest apple ever grown in the world.
