A Child’s Terrible Death.

Auckland, Jan. 24. A sad accident occurred yesterday to a little son of MrJ. Belcher, atthePukeweka sawmill near Taumarunui. The deceased and bis brother, aged 4 years, were walking on the tramline when the locomotive coming down from the bush with logs rounded a bend on a down grade. The children were evidently frightened by the engine, and ran across the track right in front of it. The driver did all he could to stop, but was unable to do so in time. The elder boy was struck by the locomotive but was thrown clear, but his liule brother, aged 19 months, was run over and dreadfully mangled, a leg and bis arms being severed by the wheels. He was taken to the local hospital, where be succumbed.
