Dunedin Wool Sales.

GOOD PRICES REALISED, Dunedin, Jan. 24. The second wool sale of the season was bald to-day, when 21,302 bales were offered. There was a large gathering of buyers, Bradford, Continental, American and New Zealand woollen mills being strongly (represented. Bidding was very spirited for all descriptions of wool. The greater part of the total catalogue was sold under tbs hammer at most satisfactory prices. As compared with the December sale prices were all round about a half-penny better. The catalogues included some of the most noted clips in Otago, all of which were in really splendid condition. Owing to the rainy season the.wool from some of the high country stations in the south was in very light condition and consequently just what was required for the American trade, whose representatives showed their appreciation of it by bidding with great vigour. Certain of the wools were tender, and these Americans left severely alone. The record price for the season in New Zealand Was paid at this, sale, namely, i3jd for nine bales of merino wether. For fleece wool of all descriptions the market was appreciably firmer, especially for finer wools. Half-bred and crossbred wools also showed an advance, good dips reaching Is in sonic cases. Pieces and locks also found good sale and participated in the rise.
