The , entries number 205 for the chopping and 54 for the sawing. The Waitata Bay carnival, which took, place in June last, proved itself to be a good pioneer. Some persons may be inclined to absent themselves from the sports, giving as their reason the inconvenience they must encounter in reaching there; this difficulty is overcome by the fact that a launch —the Advance—is running from Fern Flat, Elaine Bay, to the sports ground with passengers, the first trip commencing at 8.15 a.m. There is communication with the Groixelles by telephone from Elaine Bay. In the evening of the first day (the sports will continue for two days) a grand ball will be held in the Croixellea new hall, the demensions of which are 65ft by 30£t. Mr F.
