LAND BOARD.

The Marlborough Land Board met on Tuesday, when the following members were present: The Commissioner, and Messrs A. McCallum, J. Fulton, and Boyd. Messrs R. A. Crispin, M. Burke, and W. Ahern wrote protesting against the area of laud on the western side of the Wakamarina River (at present held by Messrs Smart Bros.) being any longer withheld from settlement; also asking that their present holdings be extended across the river. at their respective widths. It was resolved to inform Messrs Crispin, Burke, and Ahern that steps had been taken to remedy the existing unsatisfactory position. C. L. Diamanti again wrote with reference to ihe , proposed boundary of the 455 acres of land, applied for.by himjcontiguous to sections 5 and 6, block xiv., Wakamarina S.D. It was decided to inform Mr Diamanti that after very careful consideration the Board could' not see any reason for departing from their previously expressed opinion. Mrs A. H. Wadsworth and ; R. E. Cumin applied for a renewable lease over 400 acres of land in blocks xiii. and vviii., Pine Valley S.D.—-Approved Subject to the payment of the necessary .fees.

W. N. Masefield applied for 200 acr->s of unsurveyed land adjoining his present holding, block vi., Gore.—Approved. W. Litchfield wrote objecting to W. Masefield’s application for adjoining land in block ii., Gore S.D. —It ..was decided to supply Mr Litchfield with a sketch and all available particulars of the area applied for by Mr Masefield so that mutual boundaries may be arranged. W. H. Dalton, junr,, applied to lease section 25, block ix., Wakamarina S.D. (314 acres) under O.R.P. tenure. — Approved. G. Dalton applied to lease section 21, block ix., Wakamarina S.D. (651 acres) under O.R.P. tenure. —Approved. D. E. Wells wrote accepting a lease of small grazing run No. 26, —Received. H. Frost applied for permission to sow grass-seed on the strip of Crown land north of A. Maul’s holding and at the back of his own holding.-HPermiss-ion granted, the Board being willing to protect Mr Frost’s interests. The following applications to transfer were submitted for approval:—H. Rutland to Elizabeth Ivy Lafrantz, section 18, block 1., Wakamarina S.D. —Recommend for Minister’s approval. Christina M. Thompson to Charles M. Thompson, section 14a, block 1., Orieri S.D.—Recommended for Minister’s approval.—Express.
