WON BY AN AMERICAN. ■' Paris, August 31. The aviation tournament at Rheims, which was inaugurated on Sunday last, was brought to a close to-day with two speed tests, of 10 kilometres and 20 kilometres respectively—and both were won by Mr Glen H. Curtiss, an American, who has achieved several remarkable flights recently on his biplane. Mr Curtiss covered the 10 kilometre (6.21 miles) course in 7 minutes 55 seconds. tl ~ , The principal event was the Gordon Rennet Cup race, of 20 kilometres (12.42 miles), for a cup valued at £IOOO and a trophy worth £SOO, which resulted: Mr Curtiss, 15min 51sec . • 1 M. Count Zeppelin, in his new dirigible No. 11. quitted Friedrichshafen on r riday, and after experiencing several mishaps Which necessitated stoppages for repairs, arrived in Rerlin yesterday. The Raiser warmly welcomed Count Zeppelin, and afterwards drove with him to the Royal Castle.
