THE NEW TOWN HALL.

TO THE EDITOR. Sm, —A visitor to our town yesterday expressed his astonishment at a place the size of Havelock going in for such a splendid Town Hall as is now growing up next the Post Office. He declared to me that there was not another of similar excellence in the whole of the colony in any town of less than 1000 inhabitants, and that the people here ought to be very proud of it. “ But,” ho said, “ there is, in my opinion, one very serious fault of construction, and that is the awkward position of the front entrance doors. In case of fire and a stampede these side doors would probably prove a death-trap. There is nothing like a big double door that opens outward at the first push.” It seems to me there is sound reason in the visitor’s argument, and I merely ask you to publish it so that the defect (if it is a defect) can bo remedied before the building is completed.—l am, etc., Not a Fault-finder.
