CRICKET.

—— DEEP CREEK F. CANYASTOWN. This match was played at Gauvastown last Saturday, and resulted in a win for the home team by 37 runs. For the winners L. Simonsen showed some very good batting, his scores being 22 and 21. Neil Simonsen also played a good game, scoring 20 in the second innings. The' bowling of Murray, Reado, and N. Simonson, in both innings, could not be trifled with. For the losers Fred Barton and P. Dillon were the mainstays, and the Captain of the team (Fred.) gave his opponents plenty of leather-hunting. P. Dillon batted and bowled well. The fielding was very good, that of young Harry Stratford being especially noticeable, and the catching being very sure. “ Sam ” Watson gave a splendid exhibition of wicket-keeping, and proved that some of the old hands haven’t got much to learn from the youngsters.
