London, September 30. The Daily Telegraph, on good authority, states that Lord Kitchener resigns his positjon as Sirdar, regarding his work in Egypt as accomplished. It is rumored that his eyesight is affected, and it is believed that Major General Archibald Hunter will succeed him. General Hunter served with Kitchener in the Dongola expeditionary force in 1896, and has seen lengthy service in Egypt. Cairo, September 30. The Khalifa's treasure, amounting to ten millions sterling, is being conveyed across the 'desert to Cairo. October 1. Captain Marchand arrived at'Fashoda in iuly. He had little food, and would soon avebeen obliged to quit the town but for Sir H. Kitchener supplying him. October 1. The Daily Telegraph says that no doubt Sir H. Kitchener will be appointed Governor-General of the Soudan on resigning bis Sirdarship. Captain Marchand made a claim on behalf of Prance to Fashoda, but was unable to show any authority to make such a claim. Sir H. Kitchener's dispatches state that he has annihilated the Khalifa's army, Mahdism is extinguished, the whole country has submitted, and vast territories are re* opened to peace and good government..
