EXTENSIVE ROBBERY. Auckland, October 1. As the result iof investigations made by Detectives McMahon and Herbert, five men employed by the Kaponga Company, as tributers or at the battery, have been arrested on a charge of stealing gold-bearing quartz to the value of £531, the property of the shareholders of the Kaponga Company. REVIVAL IN FLAX. Wellington, October 1. As showing a revival in the flax industry, a prominent local firm has received orders from Home for an immediate shipment, but is unable to execute them until the end of November, and the flax-mills will be working for some time yet to fulfil heavy orders now on hand.
