RACEHORSE DEAD. Sydney, June 12. The stallion Nordenfeldt is dead. He wrenched his back while galloping in his paddock. HEAVY FINE. Melbourne, June 11. Claude Perignon has been fined £s°° for importing two thousand sheep from New South Wales without paying the necessary duty. SHIP BURNED AT SEA. Melbourne, June 12. Particulars have been received of the destruction by fire at sea of the Salsette, an iron ship of 1,6x4 tons register, which left London for Melbourne on xxth March. The fire was discovered in the lower hold on the morning of the 17th April, and spread with great rapidity until the following day, when portions of the deck became so hot it was impossible to stand on them The boats were then got out and provisioned, but before they had left the ship Militiades, bound for Port Pirie, hove in sight, and picked up Captain Panton and his crew and landed them at Capetown. ATTACKED BY BLACKS. Port Darwin, June 11. Two teamsters, Mulligan and Ligar, carrying rations to the Victorian Downs Station, were attacked by a large body of blacks. Ligar, although badly speared, assisted Mulligan to make a barricade among the waggons with flour bags, and thus they stood a siege for three days, finally driving their assailants off with th&ir rifles and escaped. The blacks returned, looted the camp, and then made off. ANOTHER VICTIM. Sydney, June 11. Another aboriginal has died at Fernmount from the effects of the poison supplied in mistake for rum. This makes the sixth victim.
