OKARAMIO.

(From a Correspondent)

A performance of more than usual merit was given by Hay’s Minstrels at Hears’ Hall on Friday evening last, and Mr Hay must be congratulated on the training he has given his troupe, and the efficient manner in which all details have been studied. The entertainment commenced with the usual chair business, the tambos being in the hands of Masters Jackson and M'Cusker, the bones under the control of Mr R. Hay and Master Wooster, whilst “ Mr Johnston ” was represented by Master Goslin. The programme, which consisted of fourteen items, was faithfully carried out, and well deserved the applause which greeted each performer, encores being in frequent request. The solo playing of several instruments —viz., autoharp, violin, cornet, Chinese singlestring fiddle, coffee-pot whistle, and other remarkable music (?) making machines, under the manipulation of Mr Hay, was doubtless the strong item of the evening ; whilst the singing of Masters Jackson, Wilson, Beaumont was very good, and showed a capability, with study, for future negroes greatness. The clog - dancing of Master Wooster was a clever performance, and an eye-opener for those youngsters who are in the habit of doing a “letter flap” business on their own account. A button-hole-bursting farce concluded a capital entertainment.
