Education Board.
A meeting of the above was held at Blenheim on Tuesday. Letter of Condolence.—On the motion of Mr O. H. Mills, M.H.R., seconded by Mr T.' Carter, the following resolution was carried unanimously and ordered to be entered on the minutes“ We-, the members of the Marlborough Education Board, desire to place on record our high appreciation of the time, active interest, and ability which the -late Mr Joseph Ward always placed at the disposal of the Board during the many years he held office; we earnestly offer and wish to convey our warm sympathy to his widow and family under their recent affliction.”
The difficulty as to appointing a duly qualified teacher for the Picfcon school or a pupil teacher was held over. . : At the request of Messrs T. Redwood and P. Meighan the Inspector consented to examine the Catholic Boys’ School before the New Year. The balance to the credit of the Board was stated at £1,229. The over-crowded state of the Infant School was considered and arrangements made to effect a remedy.
A request to grant the Baths Company £25 out of the Board’s funds was favourably considered, but held over till next meeting. Cullensville.—The Cullensville Committee applied for the appointment of a sewing mistress, as their attendance now warranted it.
.Mr Mills proposed that the application be granted at a salary of £l2 a year. Seconded by Mr Parker and carried. The Grove.—The householders at the Grove had met and elected a Committee, who suggested boundaries to the Board. Mr J. Duncan bad been elected Chairman.
The question of the boundaries was held over till the Chairman could look into them.
Tinline Scholarships*—The Rev Mr Ens'or was willing to act as supervisor at the coming examination at Havelock. Mr Ensor was accordingly appointed.
