R. M. COURT, GISBORNE.

(Before J. Booth, Esq., R.M.) SATURDAY. BREACH OF BY-LAWS, H. Currey was brought up charged by the police with a breach of the Borough By-laws by driving three horses through the streets without having obtained due permission, After hearing evidence the defendant was remanded for a week, BREACH OF THE PEACE. 8. Egans, T. Saddler, and G. Bobion, all residing at Makaraka, were brought up charged, at the instance of Riperata Ngeta, with conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace by violently trying to turn her off the piece of land known as the Kairourou Block, which she was in lawful possession of, Mr. McDougall appeared in support of the complaint, and Mr. DeLautour for the defendants. Mr* DeLautour explained that the case arose out of a disputed title to the land in question. Read’s trustees had a Land Transfer title to the block, and the three men had been employed to take possession and remove the complainant and others from the same. The men had, no doubt, greatly exceeded their instructions, Riperata Ngeta stated that she only went in fear of Egans and Bobion. His Worship dismissed the charge against Saddler, and remanded the other two defendants until this day. The Court then adjourned.
