The New Guinea Commissionership.
(own correspondent.) London,- Dec. 16. A conference took place to-day between Colonel Stanley, Secretary of State for the Colonies, and the various Agents-General to decide upon the successor to the late General Scratchley as High Commissioner 6f New Guinea, and fix the proportion to be paid by each Australasian colony towards the expenses of the New Guinea Protectorate. The Conference designated John Douglas or J. B. Thurston as General Scratchley’s successor, but the final selection has yet to, be made.
