The inquest was adjourned for a week to allow of the mother appearing. As J. Caul was driving two horses attached to a dray, belonging to Mr J. Clark, of Opou, up the Gladstone Road the leader, which was a young horse, took fright and bolted. The driver having broken his reins, jumped out and stumbling the wheel passed over his leg, breaking it, and necessitating his removal to the Hospital. The horses were stopped without any further mishap beyond the loss of a dray wheel. The horse was a young one and the driver had been warned to hook the animal behind after unloading the wool.
