CABLE NJEWS. (own correspondent.) London, Oct 2. Tenders for the New South Wales loan of five and a-half millions at three and a-half per cent were opened to-day when tne amount tendered for reached nearly fourteen millions. Tenderers at Z9l ns 6d receive twenty-six per cent, of their application, above that in full. The following is the result of the French elections: —The number of Royalists returned is 150: followers of M. Jules Ferry, 230; Radicals, 150; Bonapartists, 60. The following members of the present Ministry have been defeated M. Allain Targe, Minister of the Interior ; M. Goblet, Minister of Public Instruction ; M. Herve Mangon, Minister of Commerce ; and M. Pierre Legaraud, Minister of agriculture. M. Deves, who held office as Minister of Justice in M. Duclerc's Ministry, and M. Rouvie, who held the portfolio of Commerce in M. Ferry’s Ministry, have also been rejected. The ballotages for the senate include: —M. Brisson (the present Premier). M. De Broglie, M. Clemenceau, and M. Sadicarnot (Minister of Public Works in the present Ministry). October 8. An extensive fire took place at the Charter-house buildings, by which ten wharehouses were destroyed. Mr Parnell, speaking at Wicklow, stated that the loyalty of Irishmen in the Colonies showed how safe it would be to concede Self-Government to Ireland. At the French election four members of the present Ministry have been rejected. The Queen has given permission to the Victorian Yacht Club to assume the title of Royal. The Marquis of Salisbury speaking at a public meeting at Newport last night, stated that while it was policy of the British Government to uphold the Turkish rule over her dominions when found compatible with the welfare of the people under her sway, it was impossible tointerfere in the Roumelian revolution. Lord Salisbury advocated extensive reforms in the system of local Government, and expressed himself desirous of initiating an easy method for the transfer of land. He stated that the Conservative party quite reject any proposals for the settlement of Irish affairs that would menace the integrity of the Empire. Speaking on Imperial Federation, Lord Salisbury said that a close bond of union between the mother country and the colonies would be the best means of asserting the strength of Great Britain in the councils of the world. In conclusion he stated that he was prepared to use every effort to uphold a State Church in England . Bismarck is opposing German emigration to Queensland. Cairo, Oct. 7. Further details are to hand with regard to the recent encounter petween the Abyssinian forces under Ra Aloulah and Hadendowa Arabs, show that the Arabs gained a complete victory, carrying by assault a strongly entrenched position, and 11 were killed. Fully 3000 Arabs, amongst whom was Osman Digna, whose body was identified after the engagement. The Abyssinians lost a large number of men. Paris, Oct. 7. The latest returns give the result for the Chamber of Deputies up to the present time as 176 Conservatives and 135 Republicans.
