NATIVE LANDS.
The following Native lands were purchased in this district, under the Immigration and P üblic Works Act, during the twelve month ending December last :—
The total amount of Native land purchased under this Act up to the last return was :—ln the Auckland District, 2,332,030 acres, at a cost of £433,619; in the Hawke’s Bay district, 132,999 acres, at a cost of ; in Wellington district, 994,581 acres at a cost of /219,96 s ; in the laranaki district, 577,420 acres, at a cost of /88,888. Total amount purchased under this heading, acres, at a cost of £1, 764,522. The'negotiations in progress, but still incomplete, include some 1,369,269 acres more.
