PARLIAMENTARY.

(OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington. Monday. In the Legislative Council on Friday the Local Bodies Contractors Bill, Land Bill, Enforcement Judgments Bill, Local Bodies Finance and Powers Bill, and Municipal Corporations Act Amendment Bill was read a third time and passed. On Saturday the Property Tax Bill was put through all its stages, and the Special Powers- and Contracts Bill read a third tirnc and passed. The remainder of the. sitting was occupied in committee on the Districts Railways Purchasing Bill which was being stonewalled by Mr Reynolds. Ultimately, at I’3o on Sunday morning, the Chairman adjourned the Council till Monday.

This (Monday) morning the Council ‘ met at 10, when the District Railways Purchasing Bill was reported with amendI ments and passed by a majority of one. j The Special Powers and Contracts Bill was read a third time and passed, and the Council adjourned till 230. In the House on Friday Sir Julius Vogel moved a resolution empowering the Government to arrange for the ’Frisco Mail Service. After considerable debate the resolution was carried by 29 to 25. A conference was appointed with the Upper Honse respecting the amendments made by the Council in the Land Bill, and the remainder of the sitting was occupied by the Supplimcntary Estimates. The House rose at 3 a.m.

At the evening sittings the House adjourned from time to time in expectation that the conference respecting the Councils’ amendments in the Land Bill would come to some agreement, but as none was arrived at just before midnight the House adjourned. This morning the House met at ro, and the Agricultural and Pastoral Securities Act Amendment Bill was read a third time and passed. Mr Stout stated that in consequence of the amendments to the Land Hill necessitating its being reprinted the House would not prorogue until the following day. On the question that the amendments of the Council in the District Railways Purchasing Hill be agreed io the Speaker said he thought it was a money Bill, and tlin question was adjourned
