(own correspondent.) Christchurch, Wednesday. Justice Johnston ruled yesterday that administration of a bankrupts assets the Crown had priority over other creditors. Auckland, Wednesday. At a public meeting on Monday night it was resolved to establish a Social Purity Society. Caroline Stevens, daughter of Wm. K. Stevens, commission agent, died yesterday from brain fever, evidently the result of mental strain during a recent pupil teacher examination. In her last moments she was reciting lessons and totting up figures.
