In the debate in the Legislative Assembly on Mr Stewart's motion that Sir Henry Parkes in his address to the electors of Tenderfield had libelled the Chamber, came to a division at an early hour this morning. The motion was carried by 31 to 27. A further motion to expel Parkes from the Assembly, was negatived, the members of the Government voting against it, and only the mover and seconder for it.
In the Legislative Assembly to-day the Amendment to the Address-in-Reply to the Governer’s Speech was moved by the Leader of the Opposition, to the affect that the Government was deserving of censure for not calling Parliament together earlier. The debate is still proceeding.
Melbourne, Sept. 10. The Ship North American, which left here for London in February last has been posted at Lloyds as missing. Adelaide, Sept. 10. The Legislative Council has repealed the Bill providing for payment of members lately passed by the Legislative Assembly.
