INTERPROVINCIAL.
(OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, Monday. The lumpers have refused to work on Shaw, Saville and Albion Company’s vessel Crownthorpe, until the difficulty with the lumpers in the south was settled. The vessel is now being loaded by the crew. Blenheim, Monday. Twenty Members of Parliament, visiting this district, were entertained on Friday night last to a splendid banquet. Mr Henderson, Mayor of Blenheim presiding. A large number of the principle settlers from all parts were present, and the proceedings were thoroughly social and friendly. Auckland, Monday. At the inquest held on Friday last on the body of Anotione Goshnell, a verdict of suicide was returned. No blame is attached to the officers of the Lunatic Asylum. A child, eleven months old, daughter of German parents at Flat Bush, was choked by a plum stone.
The s.s. Australia arrived with the the ’Frisco mail on Saturday morning last.
The United States Consul here has received a note from Detective Tracy, from Honolulu stating that the prisoner Maxwell gave no trouble, but refused to enter iuto any conversation subject to the murder.
The Revs. C. Bodington, Vicar of Christchurch, Lichfield, and the Rev. G. E. Massen, Rector of Whitwell, the Missionaries appointed to conduct missions in the various Anglican churches in the Auckland diocese, arrived here from England by the Australia.
Dunedin, Monday. A petition has been signed by all the hotel-keepers who were granted 11 o’clock licenses, asking that the privilege be granted to others who may apply for it, except in cases where special reasons exist, to be presented to the Licensing Committee.
