Salvation Army in Trouble.
(OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Napier, Friday. The Borough Council passed a byelaw last night prohibiting public processions, unless special permission be given for holding them. The bye-law which comes into operation on the Ist. of December, is intended to suppress Salvation Army processions, now held nightly, and which has given rise to much larrikinism. Wellington Hospital. (own correspondent.) Wellington, Friday. Matters at the Wellington Hospital have been exciting a good deal of public notice within the last few days. Dr. Chilton has been removed from the charge of the institution through representations of the matron, whereupon a number of nurses wrote to the Colonial Secretary charging the matron with falsehood, for which they were all summarily discharged, and a months notice given to all the warders. The matter was brought up in the House yesterday, and Mr Samuel gave notice to move the appointment of a committee to enquire into the subject.
