“INGENUITY” OF HERR HITLER

DANZIG’S FUTURE SOLUTION WITHOUT WAR TENSION IN POLAND MOVEMENTS OF TROOPS PREPARATIONS BY FRANCE (Klee. Tel. Copyright —United Kress Assn.) (Reed. July 1. 11-30 a.m.) LONDON, June 30. A high German Government official to-day told the Berlin correspondent of tire British United Press that Germany would not go to war against half the world for Danzig, which already was completely Nazi. The official added: “Herr Hitler will again show his ingenuity in solving this problem without war.”

Messages from Danzig quote the authoritative Danzig journal Vorposten as stating: “We are convinced that there will soon be a demonstration showing, how little Britain and France are willing to support Polish arrogance.” The Vorposten urges the population to strengthen themselves in anticipation of the hour of decision.

“It is absolutely certain that this decision will be taken,” continues the journal. "The Fuehrer will set the date." The paper adds that calm and strength will be particularly necessary in the next few weeks. Expected Visit to Danzig Berlin reports state that Herr Hitler’s visit to Danzig is expected between July 20 and July 30. There may be earlier brief visits on the part of other Reich Ministers. It is stated in Berlin that Herr Hitler is not speaking at the launching of the cruiser Bremen, partly because he desires to rest and partly because he does not desire to anticipate Germany’s answer to Britain’s note in reply to the German denunciation of the naval agreement.

An official Polish communique issued in Warsaw says it is no longer to be doubted, despite Danzig’s denials, that the free corps is being organised in Danziig and barracks have ’been requisitioned and quantities of frozen meat stored. Tailors have been regimented for making uniforms for the co rips.

The outspokenness of the communique surprised Polish political quarters and it is interpreted as meaning that Poland will not passively watoh an infiltration of East Prussian Nazis in Danzig. The Paris correspondent of the British United Press says that evidence that Germany is calling up further reservists early coincides with the increased pressure in 'Danzig. The German frontier control already has been tripled. Six regiments of infantry arrived at Carlsruhe last night. Thirtythousand troops from Essen, are installed in the Saar frontier posts. Thirty-thousand motorised troops have reached the 'Rhineland in the past two days. Observers report considerable troop movements at Kehl, Salzbach, Trier and Elf el.

The Paris correspondent of the Associated Press says that France is looking

to her defences as a result of the reports of the calling up of German reservists and also that Italian troop trains are moving through the Brenner Pass. Marshal Gamelin is inspecting the fortifications on the Italian frontier and General Vuillemin is inspecting the Corsican air 'bases.

Le Journal declares: “Our predicament is enough to make the 1,500,000 French war dead rise from their gvaves.” France has opened her army enlistment rolls to foreign residents -prepared to serve -for “the duration of war.”
