FORMATION IN WAIROA
BADMINTON CLUB ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING (Special to tho Herald.) WAIROA, this day. Sporting activities in the Wairoa district were advanced a further stage on Tuesday evening, when, at an enthusiastic meeting, it was decided to form a badminton club. The club will be known as the Wairoa 'Badminton Club, and permission has been granted for the use of the Wairoa Harbour Board’s wool shed. In addition to badminton, members -of the newly-formed club will be prbvided with facilities for deck tennis and ping-pong. The membership subscription was fixed at 255, reducible by ss. It was decided to use the shed or Monday and Thursday evenings and Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, and the activities of the club will commence as soon as possible -after Easter. The following officers were elected: 'Patron, Mr. J. Corkill: president, Mr. H. Trewby: club captain, Mr. H. Berney; secretary and treasurer, Mr. G. Mowat; management committee, Miss E. J. Kenny, Mrs. W. Petchell, Messrs. P. Thorne-George and F. Ollivier.
