The proposal that the Pirates, Old i Boy.s and Waiau Rugby football clubs . should amalgamate to form one ■ strong town club was enthusiastici ally received at a meeting of Rugby enthusiasts held in St. Andrew's Hall. North Clyde, Wairoa, on Mon- ! I day evening, when it was decided , that a new club, to be known as the ■ Wairoa Athletic Football Club, should be formed. There was a good attendance, and ■ the convener of the meeting, Mr. B. - Parkinson, presided. Mr. W. G. Brownlie, representing . the Waiau club, .stated that his club . was in accordance with the proposal, and he had been instructed to inform the meeting that it would give the project its wholehearted support. Mr. J. Harvey, representing the Pirates club, and Mr. J. Hodgson, representing the Old Boys club, expressed similar views on behalf of their clubs. Mr. Parkinson then moved that a new club be formed, the motion being seconded toy Mr. A. Winter and carried. An amendment by Mr. R. E. Goodley to the effect 'that a new club be formed to field a senior team only and that the thirds and juniors remain as at present, failed to lind a seconder. Mr. Parkinson stated that it was proposed that the junior and thirds should retain separate identities. Each team would be in the nature of a select body, and would have its own coach, captain and vice-captain. Election of Officers j The following officers were elected: I Patron, Mr. A. G. J. Powdreli, S. Davies, E. Welch. iand R. W. P Goodley; club captain, Mr. B. Parkinson; secretary, Mr. W. G. Brownlie; assistant secretary, Mr. H. Griffiths; treasurer, Mr. R. Brice; hon. auditors, Messrs. L. Butcher and H. Trcwby; 1 hon. surgeons, Dr. Guy Hallwright, ) Dr. B. G. Mitford and Dr. E. B. Jardine; hon. solicitor, Mr. C. R. Sainsbury; delegates to annual meeting of sub-union, (the Rev. C. E. Hyde and Mr. B. Parkinson. It was unanimously decided that the three clubs should hand over all their assets Ito .the new club, .and that in the event of the club ever ceasing to function its assets be handed over to the Wairoa County Rugby Sub-Union, for distribution among the original clubs on a pro irata basis. The subscriptions were fixed at 7s (id for senior members, 5s for juniors, 2s 6d for thirds, and 5s for hon. members, k the subscriptions to include insurance. After much discussion, it was agreed that 'the club's colours should be black and white, the club to purchase the necessary jerseys and sell them to the members. Practice nights, it was decided, should be Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 'it was .agreed to nominate one senior team, two junior teams ,and two third grade teams.
